Position: Security Officer (Armed)
Location: Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia
Job Description: Officer maintains a safe and secure environment for customers and employees by responding to immediate threats, controlling facility/building access, patrolling the premises, monitoring activities, and reporting incidents.
Specific duties include:
Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings, equipment, and access points;
Promptly respond to security threats and safety concerns, including violence, intrusion, fire, theft, vandalism, disturbances and other serious hazards;
Monitors facility entrances to ensure proper check-in procedures in accordance with policy and procedures;
Performs building security patrols and inspections of designated areas;
Prevents loss and damage by reporting irregularities, informing violators of policy and procedures, restraining trespassers;
Completes incident reports by recording observations, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, obtaining pertinent information and appropriate signatures;
Maintains records in connection with incident reports;
Maintains a secure environment by monitoring and setting building and equipment controls;
Maintains organization's stability and reputation by complying with security regulations and requirements;
Ensures safe environment for occupants by ensuring proper operation of security equipment by reporting equipment malfunctions, potential hazards conditions and items in need of repair (i.e., broken lights and inoperative or broken locks);
Performs security enforcement duties as described in post orders; and
Performs other duties as assigned by site supervisor.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must:
Be a licensed security guard/officer in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia;
Be a minimum age of 23 years of age as required by law to carry a handgun;
Have a minimum of 2 years of security guard experience;
Possess a permit to carry a handgun or be able to qualify for a license to carry a handgun according to State specifications;
Have at least a high school diploma or GED;
Be able to successfully complete Universal Security's background investigation;
Have excellent English language skills (reading, writing and comprehension)
Be a licensed security guard/officer in Washington, DC, Maryland or Virginia;
Be physically fit to perform duties of the position, such as standing for extended periods of time, walking long distances; and hearing at a distance of 10 feet;
Possess a valid driver's license or appropriate class driver's license as required by the local jurisdiction;
Be a US citizen or possess appropriate work visa; and
Be capable of obtaining and maintaining First Aid/CPR and AED certifications.
